Nankai-Kyoto Joint Program



Each institution may exchange up to 2 undergraduate/graduate students enrolling for one semester or 1 undergraduate/graduate students enrolling for one year each year during the term of this agreement. Two students enrolling for one semester each will be equivalent to one student enrolling for one year. The number of students may be modified from time to time by mutual agreement. It is understood that a balance in number of exchange students shall be maintained over a five year period.

Participating students under the terms of this agreement shall be enrolled as full-time and non­degree students undertaking research or taking courses at the host institution. The normal 1ength of stay of exchange students will beat least one semester, and at most one academic year or two semesters. The duration of the students' stay shall not exceed 12 months.

Participating students will be selected by their institution on the basis of the following criteria which shall generally apply but may be amended in appropriate cases. Thus, the student must

a. have completed at least one year full-time study at the home institution

b. have good to excellent academic record

c. meet all admission or specific requirements set down by the home institution and host institution

Participating students nominated by the home institution will normally be accepted by the host institution while the host institution retains the right to review the students nominated for exchange and to make final decisions concerning the admission. The host institution shall provide formal letters of admission and other documents in order for the participating students to enter and study in the host institution.

Students participating under the terms of this agreement shall be subjected to the rules and regulations of the host institution. They will also, for the most part have the rights and privileges enjoyed by other students in the host institution.

Students participating under the terms of this agreement shall enroll to the home institution and pay whatever fees are required of them by their home institution in order to participate in the program, however they shall be exempt from paying tuition, application, or academic fees to the host institution.

Each institution shall make every reasonable effort to assist students participating under the terms of this agreement in finding suitable accommodation and provide advice and support in accordance with its practices and problems. The participating students shall provide for their own food, accommodation, travel, books, transportation, passports, visas, insurance fees, and personal expenses.

The host institution shall provide participating students appropriate assistance or advice in matters of registration, campus life, cultural adjustments, health, language, and local custom that may arise.

Each host institution shall provide participating students with the necessary documents and information for visa in accordance with current laws, although it is the responsibility of the individual student to obtain a visa in a timely manner.

At the end of the exchange, the host institution should send the home institution an official transcript of credits for each participating student. Any academic credit that the students receive from the host institution may be transferred back to the home institution in accordance with procedures determined by the home institution.

Each institution reserves the right to dismiss any participating student at any time for academic or personal misconduct in violation of established regulations. The dismissal of a participant shall not abrogate the agreement for the arrangements regarding other participants.

Upon completion of the exchange term at the host institution, the participating students must return to their home institution without fail. No extension of stay will be authorized unless otherwise specifiedby the home institution.
