Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC central committee with comrade Xi Jinping at its core has attached great importance to the innovation and development of the Marxist Political Economy. Nankai University is an important university of Marxist Political Economy. It has cultivated a large number of leading talents in economics and various outstanding talents in practical work and made outstanding contributions to the development and innovation of Marxist Political Economy. Nowadays, under the guidance of Xi Jinping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, the discipline of Political Economy of Nankai University has made new progress, playing an important leading role in China.

Mr. Wei Xun is a famous expert on capital in China, a leading figure in Political Economy of national universities and a theoretical master. He has made a historic contribution to the inheritance and development of Marxist Political Economy in China. Mr. Wei Xun is also an educator. He edited the Political Economy (the part of capitalism, also known as the Northern One), nurtured several generations of Chinese economists and made outstanding contributions to the cultivation of economic talents in China. As one of the pioneers of economics and one of the founders of Marxist economics at Nankai University, Mr. Wei Xun has made indelible contributions to the historical position of Nankai University in economics circle in China.

This year marks the centenary of Nankai University and the centenary of Mr. Wei Xun's birth. To inherit Mr. Wei Xun's master spirit, encourage future generations to follow his example and make new contributions to the development and innovation of Marxist Political Economy in the 21st century. The school of economics and the department of economics of Nankai University plan to hold an academic seminar to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mr. Wei Xun's birth.
