Short Bio of Professor Song

Dr Song is a tenured Professor of the Department of City and Regional Planning and Director of Program on Chinese Cities at the University of North Carolina. Dr Song has also served as a Research Affiliate at the National Center for Smart Growth and a Faculty Fellow at the Lincoln Institution of Land Policy. Song’s research interest includes urban planning of low carbon and sustainable development, urban planning and transportation, urban governance and growth management, urban planning evaluation, big data and smart city, and applications of supporting system for urban planning and decision-making. Song’s research projects address domestic and international issues, sponsored by National Science Foundation (NSF), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Institutions of Health (NIH), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), World Bank, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China (MOHUED), Lincoln Institution of Land Policy, and different tiers of China’s local government.
