(Correspondent: Zhang Wei) On the afternoon of September 27, Dr. Zhang An-yuan, Chief Economist of China Securities Co., LTD, Member of the Chief Economist Committee of the Securities Association of China, gave a talk entitled “One Belt and One Road: from the Perspective of International Capital Cycle” in NKIE (Nankai Institute of Economics) Bi-weekly Academic Seminar.

Dr. Zhang first outlined the “One Belt and One Road” from the perspectives of origin, status quo and advancement, and analyzed the historical inevitability, pointing out that security claims and economic considerations are mutually related. With regards to the challenges and opportunities in the promotion of the “One Belt and One Road” initiative, Dr. Zhang shared some lessons learned from overseas asset management, discussed the importance of capital cycle sustainability, analyzed the sources of overseas funding and the cycling mode of the US dollars. Next, Dr. Zhang introduced the macro-environment and micro-profitability of projects. Combined with economic theory and his own field experience, he analyzed the profit prospects of many investment hotspots such as railways, civil aviation, optical cables, ports and pipelines.
