(Correspondent: Zhou Xing) From November 16 to 17, the 18th international conference of the Japanese economic policy association (JEPA) was held in Tokyo, Japan. The conference was hosted by Chuo University, and the theme was the post-2020 global economy: emerging economies, growth and population. Professor Yuan Xin attended the conference and delivered the keynote speech of China's demographic transformation and economic miracle -- focusing on the perspective of demographic dividend.

In his speech, professor YuanXin said that the rapid demographic transformation with Chinese characteristics stems from the dual role of the basic national policy of family planning and the rapid economic and social development since the reform and opening up; the window of demographic opportunity opened by rapid demographic change has the characteristics of large scale of human resources supply, rapid improvement of human capital and low dependency burden; the economic and social policies suited to the basic national conditions, under the guidance of the strategy of reform and opening up, such as allowing free flow of labor, reforming the employment and entrepreneurship system, promoting gender equality, raising labor participation rate, creating labor-intensive industries, promoting healthy China strategy, implementing the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and integrating into globalization, have fully unleashed the advantages and potential of population, reaped the demographic dividend and created the Chinese economic miracle; the advantage of national system is an important guarantee for China to reap demographic dividend, which deserves academic study and diffusion.

It is reported that the Japanese Economic Policy Association was founded in 1940 with the purpose of promoting economic policy research and academic cooperation at home and abroad. It also hosts The Journal of Economic Policy Studies and The International Journal of Economic Policy Studies. Since the first international conference was held in 2002, 18 grand events have been held successfully, attracting well-known experts and scholars from more than 40 countries and regions.

Professor Yuan Xin is a well-known scholar in the field of economics of population in our country, served as vice president of China Population Association, expert group of National Research on improving population development strategy, expert group of National Research on coping with population aging strategy, director of research center of aging development strategy of Nankai University, director of research base of aging strategy of Nankai University, chairman of Expert Committee of Tianjin Aging Working Committee, rotating chairman of 30 people forum of aging society. This meeting will help strengthen the academic relationship of the population economic research between our college and the economic policy academic circle of Japan, deepen the cooperative relationship and enhance the level of internationalization of scientific research.
