Professor Ni Zhiliang from the Department of Finance of the School of Economics publishes a new book exploring the "Road to Happiness"
(Correspondent: Zhao Na) Happiness is related to the ultimate goal of all internal efforts of individuals; the happiness of people's livelihood is related to the best choice of national governance. In recent years, my country's per capita GDP has exceeded 10,000 U.S. dollars, and the problem of material shortage has been alleviated to a large extent and in a wide range. However, with the emergence of social phenomena such as excess information, excessive comparison, and excessive competition, people’s negative emotions such as stress, anxiety, and anxiety have also increased, making it a good place to work and live with peace of mind. This simple and direct life appeal, this authentic appeal that should have been the initial heart of life and become the normal state of life, has become more and more extravagant and rare. It is against this background that recently, The Way of Happiness—The Practical Edition of Happiness Economics edited by Professor Ni Zhiliang of the School of Economics of Nankai University and Associate Professor Zhao Chunling of the School of Marxism was timely published by Nankai University Press. Happiness and Public Governance actively explored and pondered.
The book believes that happiness, expressed in economics, is to maximize the utility of the allocation of life resources (time and energy) and to achieve the optimization of life experience.
As mentioned in the book, on the personal level, the pursuit of happiness can be divided into external seeking and internal seeking. External demand is about how an individual allocates his own time and energy and other life resources in a balanced manner, and gradually improves the individual's real situation in the real society: income, status (fame), health, interpersonal relationship (family relationship, friendship, etc.), The individual's life experience for decades is at its best. Inner seeking is about the comprehensive interpretation of the individual's inner and outer real situation, about the individual's mental model, values, outlook on life, and world outlook, about the individual's inner consistency, harmony, and satisfaction, and about the individual's cognition Inertia and emotional inertia.
According to the author, facing the same real situation, different hearts will interpret different results and different emotional experiences. The interpretation system is equivalent to the software system of a computer. Only by continuously upgrading and optimizing the software system, facing the external real situation that should be cherished, a person may experience more peace and joy, and experience more peace and harmony. Focus, experience more sense of value, meaning, and unity.
'Internal seeking' and 'External seeking' are mainly based on the thinking of the individual's controllable level. Happiness sometimes exceeds the individual's controllable level. This level is concentrated in the public environment of the individual's country, including international politics. Economic status, peace situation, social security, culture, education, social security, environmental protection, etc. said Ni Zhiliang.
The book believes that stable and continuous happiness comes from the unity of happiness and meaning, and from the unity of cognition, behavior, and emotion. At the cognitive level, it is possible to regularly reach the master message agreement on the thousands of images in the mind, and to achieve the reality on the basis of simplicity and supremacy; at the behavioral level, it is possible to synthesize and benefit from each other. To act uniquely with pleasure and spirit to achieve the supreme good on the basis of the unity of righteousness and benefit; at the emotional level, be able to command the spiritual energy with the supreme goal in line with the mandate of heaven and experience the foundation of happiness and peace The most beautiful on the top. The more real the cognition, the good the behavior, and the more happy and peaceful feelings, the more knowledge and action can achieve unity in the downward trend of truth, goodness, and beauty.
After the publication of The Economics of Happiness (first edition) in 2017, it received widespread attention and praise from the society, and many media reprinted book reviews. As the book review says: The Economics of Happiness has contributed positively to the cultivation of personal happiness and the government's public governance.
Compared with Happiness Economics (2017 edition), The Way of Happiness-Happiness Economics Practical Edition pays more attention to practicality, and the number of cases has increased from more than 170 to more than 290. Among them, more than 70% of the cases in the first and second chapters have been optimized in terms of content selection and case reviews, and all the contents of the third chapter have been updated, adding two chapters, Education and Happiness and Culture and Happiness.
We hope that this book can play a positive role in promoting the study of Chinese happiness economics, and readers will surely get a lot of knowledge and enlightenment from it. Zhao Chunling said.
