(Correspondent: Zhong Yiming) On May 21^st, Xiaojuan Jiang, the Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University as well as the president of Chinese Public Administration Society (CPAS), was invited to Nankai Economist Symposium. Professor Jiang gave a report entitled "Public Governance in the Digital Age".Academician Cao Xuetao, the president of Nankai University, received Prof. Jiang Xiaojuan and delivered a speech before the report. Prof. Sheng Bin, the Dean of School of Economics, presided over the meeting. Bian Shouchuan and Jia Guirong, leaders of Tianjin Science & Technology Association attended the meeting.

Academician Cao Xuetao first introduced the outstanding academic achievements and rich political experience of Professor Jiang Xiaojuan. He pointed out that along with the new round of scientific and technological revolution, issues like digital economy development and digital governance have become the focus of global attention. In this context, Nankai University has established the Digital Economy Interdisciplinary Science Research Center to foster new growth points of disciplines based on economics, with aim to respond to the major strategic needs of our country. This symposium will be a foundational academic activity for the construction of the center. It is hoped that Professor Jiang Xiaojuan, as a top expert in digital economy research, can strongly support the innovative development of digital economy research in Nankai University.

With the title of "Public Governance in the Digital Age", Professor Jiang Xiaojuan discussed the importance and extensive influence of the current digital technology development from various aspects, prospectively analyzed the opportunities and challenges faced by public governance in the digital era, and put forward the concept and principles of digital governance. In the lecture, professor Jiang not only made in-depth theoretical and policy analysis, but also listed many practical application scenarios and legal cases, which made the whole lecture clear to understand.

After the report, Professor Jiang interacted with the audience. The symposium came to an end in the warm applause of teachers and students.

Jiang Xiaojuan is currently the Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University and the president of Chinese Public Administration Society (CPAS). She is also a professor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

In 1989 she received her Ph.D. in Economics from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. From 1989 to 2004, she worked in the Research Bureau, the Institute of Industrial Economics and Institute of Finance and trade Economics of CASS. She used to be the director of the Institute of Industrial Economics of CASS and the secretary of the Communist Party Committee and director of the Institute of Finance and trade Economics. From 2004 to 2018, she worked in the State Council and served as Vice Chairperson of the Research Office and deputy secretary-general of the State Council, being responsible for education, science and technology, culture, health, sports, women and children, and ethnic and religious affairs.

Since March 2018, she has served as member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Vice Chairperson of the Committee of Social Construction of the National People’s Congress.
