The Report "Digital Economics and China" Released at "2021 International Forum on South-South Cooperation and Trades in Services"

(Correspondent: Wang Tianjian) On Sep. 4th, 2021, the report Digital Economics and China, completed by research team from the Research Center for Digital Economics and Research Center for Multinational Corporations of School of Economics of Nankai University, was released at 2021 International Forum on South-South Cooperation and Trades in Services organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation(UNOSSC) and China International Center for Economic and Technical Changes. At the forum, Professor Sheng Bin released the results on behalf of the whole research team. Professor Yan Bing and Professor Ronglin also attended the forum.

With the theme of Digital Economics for a New Pattern of South-South Cooperation, the forum was held at China National Convention Center. It was CIFTIS (China International Fair for Trade Services)'s first-ever activity under the topic of South-South Cooperation. A total of more than 200 people attended the forum online or offline, including officials of Ministry of Commerce and Government of Beijing Municipality, delegates of UNOSSC, UNEP, UNDIO and other international organizations, ambassadors to China, and other delegates from relevant institutions.

The idea of the report Digital Economics and China was put forward by Dr. Klaus Schwab, the founder and president of World Economic Forum, during his meeting with Yang Qingshan, Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee in 2018. Afterwards, the research received much support from World Economic Forum.

The report consists of 9 main sections, covering the worldwide and nationwide development of digital economics, the relation between digital economics and trades, industrial upgrading, international investments, finance, labor market and global governance, and some policy suggestions for the development of China's digital economics. It demonstrated the features and tendency of the development of digital economics, analyzed the achievements and problems of China's industrial digitization, digital industrialization, and digital trades and investments, focused on the social influence of digital economics, and deeply discussed the system of global digital governance. 

After the forum, our school received the letter of appreciation from China International Center for Economic and Technical Changes. The center appreciated the efforts and contribution that Nankai University has made in preparation for the forum. It was praised that the release of the report enhanced the quality of the forum and won great reception.
