Nankai-Glasgow Confucius Institute Lecture Series - Economics Lecture Held in School of Economics

(Correspondent: Guo Ling) On Sep. 29th, 2021, Nankai-Glasgow Confucius Institute Lecture Series - Economics Lecture was held in the School of Economics.

Because of the pandemic, the lecture was held online and offline at the same time. The Deputy dean, Prof. Zhou Yunbo chaired the lecture. Dr Konstantinos Angelopoulos, Reader in Economics of the University of Glasgow was invited to give the online lecture on “The medium-run wealth and health inequality implications of COVID-19”. Guo Ling, Co-director of Confucius Institute, Ding Sai, Professor of Adam Smith School of Business, UofG, and some teachers of School of Economics of Nankai University attended the activity. More than 90 students participated online and offline.

In the lecture, Dr Konstantinos Angelopoulos reported his group’s latest research results on the joint evolution of the distributions of health and wealth in the UK in the decades following COVID-19, which is funded by ESRC as part of UK Research and Innovation’s rapid response to COVID-19. After the lecture, he and the teachers and students of our school had a lively discussion about his research model and research methods.

As the pandemic continues, this lecture promoted the academic exchange and cooperation between the School of Economics, Nankai University and the Adam Smith School of Business, the University of Glasgow.
