The 4th China Microeconomic Theory Forum Held Successfully by School of Economics, Nankai University

(Correspondent: Zhong Yiming) On November 13th, the 4th China Microeconomic Theory Forum co-sponsored by the School of Economics of Nankai University and the Editor Office of Economic Research Journal was held successfully online. The forum aims to encourage innovative theoretical and policy research on major practical issues in China's economic development practices based on microeconomic theories, methods and data. Professor Shengbin (Dean of School of Economics, Nankai University) and Jin Chengwu (Director of the Editorial Office of Economic Research Journal) attended the forum and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Li Junqing (Deputy Dean of School of Economics, Nankai University).

After the opening ceremony, Research Fellow Huang Qunhui (Director of the Institute of Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Dean of the School of Economics of University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Chief Editor of Economic Research Journal and Economic Perspectives), John Quah (Professor of Economics at John Hopkins University; Distinguished Professor at National University of Singapore; Co-editor at the Journal of Mathematical Economics and at Economic Theory) and Professor Wang Yongjin (Research Fellow at School of Economics, Nankai University) delivered keynote speeches respectively.

On the afternoon of November 13th, 16 parallel sub-forums were held online respectively. The forum selected 48 outstanding papers from 241 submissions, covering different fields such as platform economy and digital rights, information disclosure and mechanism design, platform economy and industrial organization behavior, labor and wage distribution and formation, factor flow and regional economic development, as well as fintech and regulation. Famous experts and scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and other universities and research institutions made reports, comments and in-depth discussions on the relevant papers. Among them, Professor Li Junqing, Professor Jiang Dianchun, Professor Yang Dani, Professor Ding Sihua and Professor Chen Enxian from the School of Economics of Nankai University presided over the relevant sub-forums.

Focusing on the promotion of academic exchanges in microeconomists, this forum reflects contemporary economists’ original exploration of microeconomic theory in China’s local economic development practice, as well as the purpose and belief of promoting the modernization of China’s economy.
