On December 17, 2022, the Academic Seminar on Digital Economy Development and Chinese Path to Modernization was held online. The seminar was sponsored by the Digital Economy Cross Science Center of Nankai University, the School of Economics of Nankai University, the Institute of Economic and Social Development of Nankai University, and the World Economy magazine.

The opening ceremony and keynote speech in the morning were presided over by Tong Jiadong (Former Vice President of Nankai University, Chair Professor, and Director of the Digital Economy Cross-Science Center). Liang Qi (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nankai University and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar) and Wang Zhuanyun (Deputy Director of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Department of Nankai University) attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

After the opening ceremony, Yu Miaojie (President of Liaoning University and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar), Fan Conglai (Director of the Yangtze River Delta Economic and Social Development Research Center of Nanjing University and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar), Ouyang Yao (Former Vice President of Hunan Normal University and Distinguished Professor of the School of Economics of Shanghai University), Zhong Changbiao (Vice President of Guangzhou Business School and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar), Ma Shuzhong (President of China Digital Trade Research Institute of Zhejiang University and Qiushi Distinguished Professor), Kou Zonglai (Deputy Dean of the School of Economics of Fudan University and Young Cheung Kong Scholar) delivered keynote speeches respectively.

On the afternoon of the 17th, the two parallel forums of this seminar were held online.

The theme of parallel forum 1 is Basic theories and policies of digital economy, which is presided over by Liu Bingslian (Former Assistant President of Nankai University and President of the Institute of Economic and Social Development of Nankai University). Du Chuanzhong (Director of the Institute of Industrial Economics, Nankai University), Sheng Bin (Head of Organization Department of Nankai University and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar), Wang Fang (Professor of Business School of Nankai University), Zhang Yuzhi (Dean of School of Software, Nankai University), Bai Xuejie (Vice President of the Institute of Economic and Social Development of Nankai University), Zhang Yuli (Former Dean of Nankai University Business School and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar) delivered speeches at the forum.

The theme of parallel forum 2 is Research on Frontier Issues of Digital Economy, hosted by Wang Hui (Editorial Department of World Economy). Li Sanxi (Professor of Renmin University of China and Young Cheung Kong Scholar), Zeng Yan (Professor of Sun Yat-sen University and Young Top Talent), Zhang Xun (Professor of Beijing Normal University and Young Cheung Kong Scholar), Xie Danxia (Associate Professor of Tsinghua University), Wang Yongjin (Professor of Nankai University and Young Cheung Kong Scholar), Shi Bingzhan (Professor of Nankai University and Young Cheung Kong Scholar) delivered speeches at the forum.
