Professor Chirantan Chatterjee is a professor of innovation economics, convener of the doctoral program and joint director of policy training and administrative education of the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of Business School of University of Sussex. He is a visiting researcher at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University and a visiting professor of economics at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

SPRU of University of Sussex was established in 1966. It is renowned worldwide for broad influence in the field of science and technology policy research. It ranks first globally in the field of science and technology policy and development research, ranks first in the UK and third globally in the “Science and Technology Think Tank Ranking”. It is the headquarter of the global Neo-Schumpeterian School, with a group of famous scholars in the field of innovation economics, including Freeman, Peres, and Pavett.
