Professor Yuan Xin participated in the China-French International Forum on Population Ageing

(Correspondent: Zhong Yiming) From April 26th to May 4th, 2024, Professor Yuan Xin travelled to Paris, France, to participate in the China-European Civilization Forum - The Earliest and the Biggest: China-France International Forum on Population Ageing in 2024, which was jointly organized by Faculté des Lettres de Sorbonne Université, Université Paul-Valery Montpellier, KEDGE Business School and Renmin University of China.As France is the country with the earliest start of population ageing in the world, and China is the country with the largest elderly population, it is of great practical and theoretical significance for the two countries to carry out academic exchanges on the topic of population ageing.Professor Yuan Xin delivered a keynote speech entitled “Policies, Realities and Prospects of Social Participation of the Elderly in China, in which he systematically discussed how China has promoted social participation of the elderly in policies and practices in the national strategy of actively responding to population aging.At the same time, Professor Yuan co-chaired a forum on “Development of Social Services for the Elderly” with French experts. The organizers of the conference also organized a visit to French elderly care institutions.

This year is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and this International Forum on Population Ageing is one of the series of academic symposiums of the China-European Civilization Forum jointly organized by academics from China and France, as well as one of the activities of cultural and academic exchanges in the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, with the support of the Embassy of France in China.
