(Correspondent: Zhong Yiming)From June 23rd to 26th, Dr. Meng Xiaoyu, a faculty member of our school, attended the 18th World Conference of Spatial Econometrics Association (SEA 2024) held at the University of Groningen in Holland, during which he presented his paper “Threshold Spatial Panel Regression with Fixed Effects”.The paper introduces general estimation and inference methods for threshold space panel regressions with two-way fixed effects in the framework of decreasing threshold effects, and proposes an estimation method based on quasi-maximum likelihood estimation, theoretically proving the consistency and asymptotic distribution of the parameter estimates, and proposing the corresponding statistical inference means. For the test of whether the threshold effect exists, the paper proposes a sup-Wald test. In addition, Dr. Meng Xiaoyu participated in the paper review as a reviewer and actively discussed with the participating scholars on the spatial regression model with threshold effect.

Founded in 2006, the Spatial Econometrics Association (SEA) not only promotes the development of theoretical tools and practical applications in the field of spatial econometrics, but also advances theoretical and empirical research in this field. This conference is a regular annual meeting of the association, bringing together scholars and researchers from around the world to share the latest research findings and methodologies. The conference celebrated 50 years since the term “spatial econometrics” was first introduced by Professor Jean Paelinck. During the conference, scholars conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the construction of spatial weight matrices, empirical applications of spatial econometric models, high-dimensional spatial econometric models, spatial DID models, and other topics.
