(Correspondent: Zhong Yiming) From July 1st to 4th, Dr. Meng Wenbo, a faculty member of our school, attended the 29th Annual Conference of European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) held in Leuven, Belgium, where she presented her paper “Going with the Flow? Transboundary Behaviors in Decentralized Water Pollution Policies”.The paper investigates the impact of policy decentralization on the management of surface water pollution. The paper integrates a comprehensive dataset of surface water pollution policies and hydrological information, and finds that decentralized policies have a lower priority when implemented in transboundary rivers near administrative boundaries. In addition, Dr Meng Wenbo participated in the paper review as a reviewer, and actively discussed with the participating scholars on the integrated management framework of water, energy, food, ecosystems and climate risk response strategies.
The European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) was founded in 1990 to promote the development and application of environmental, climate and resource economics, and to facilitate the cooperation and exchange between researchers and policy makers from different countries. The EAERE Annual Conference is one of the most influential international conferences in the field of environmental and resource economics. Each summer, participants from around the world engage in in-depth exchanges and lively discussions on the latest research topics in environmental, climate and resource economics.
