2025-07-13
The 31st Annual Conference of the International Input-Output Association was successfully held from July 6th to 11th in Malé.
During the conference, Dr. Junshang Liang, a faculty member of our school, presented his latest working paper titled The Restructuring of Global Supply Chains and Inter-Country Value Transfers, and earned the Best Flash-Section Presenter award in the Flash Presentation Competition.
The paper adopts a Marxian political economy perspective and systematically measures inter-country value transfers in international trade from 1995 to 2020 using Inter-Country Input-Output Tables. The study finds that in bilateral trade, the higher a country's relative dependence on its trading partner, the more likely it is to transfer value to that partner. Additionally, the restructuring of global supply chains has a significant impact on dependence patterns and value transfer dynamics. This research provides new theoretical foundations and empirical evidence for understanding imbalances in global economic development.
Established in 1988, the International Input-Output Association is one of the most influential academic organizations in the field of input-output economics, dedicated to advancing theoretical research, methodological innovation, and policy applications in input-output analysis.
